Candela Recorder For IT Privacy
Candela Recorder · for Chrome and Edge · version 0.1.0

Record it once.
We film it properly.

The Candela Recorder is a small browser extension. You do a workflow in your own logged-in web app; it keeps the real screens, styles and clicks, so Candela can rebuild them, pixel for pixel, in your film. You review every step before anything leaves your browser.

Checking whether the Recorder is installed…
1 · Add to Chrome
Coming to the Chrome Web Store.

The Recorder is not listed in the Chrome Web Store yet. Until it is, install it by hand (below), or ask your IT department to deploy it (further down) if your browser is managed by your company.

2 · Install manually
Download it and load it into Chrome.
Download candela-recorder-0.1.0.zipthen unzip it into a folder you keep
  1. Open the extensions page

Type chrome://extensions in the address bar (Edge: edge://extensions) and turn on Developer mode, top right (Edge: left).

  2. Load unpacked

Click Load unpacked and choose the folder you unzipped (the one with manifest.json in it).

  3. Pin it

Open the puzzle-piece menu and pin Candela Recorder to the toolbar. Keep the folder: Chrome loads the Recorder from it.

Many companies switch off Developer mode or block extensions that are not on an approved list. If you see "Blocked by your administrator" or cannot turn Developer mode on, that is your company's browser policy, not a fault: use option 3.

3 · Company browser
Blocked by your company? Send this to IT.

Your IT department can allow or install the Recorder for you with a browser policy in a few minutes. The IT page has the extension ID, every permission and why it is needed, how data is handled, and copy-ready policies for Windows, Intune, macOS, Google Admin and Edge.

Microsoft Edge

Edge runs Chrome extensions. Once the Recorder is in the Chrome Web Store, Edge installs it from there after you allow "extensions from other stores". The manual install works the same at edge://extensions. Companies manage Edge with the same policies under Edge names (Microsoft\Edge in the registry); the IT page lists both.

What it records,
in plain words.

Privacy notice ↗
Only what you record

One tab, the one you press Record in, and only between Record and Stop. Never while paused, never other tabs, never in the background. The toolbar badge says REC whenever it records. Each click, Enter or page change becomes a step: a screenshot and the page's structure and styles at that moment.

Masked by default

Password fields are always masked, with no setting to change that. Every other input is masked too unless you allow plain text. Click Mask an element to hide names, amounts or a whole panel on that site; masked areas are blacked out in the screenshots as well.

Nothing leaves before Send

Until you press Send to Candela on the review screen, the recording stays in your browser, and you can delete steps or discard it all. Sending goes only to candela.mov over HTTPS, for the one film your capture link names.

Stored in Switzerland

Candela runs on Infomaniak in Geneva, Switzerland. The server masks any password-like value again on arrival, deletes the raw upload once your product kit is built, and keeps the screens your film is made from.

Kept as long as needed

Product kits are deleted after 90 days without use, films 180 days after their last activity, earlier when you delete the film. Your organisation can ask for an export or deletion at any time.

Asks for little

At install it may only talk to candela.mov. It asks Chrome for access to the site you record when you first press Record there, for that site only. It loads no remote code.
